Trades! OJS Say Goodbye to Veterans.

It’s been a busy couple of days for GM/Coach Mike Ruest as the OJS took steps to give their Veterans an opportunity to finish their careers within the CJHL with a Play-Off contender. At the same time the OJS set themselves up strong for the next several years by securing 6 draft positions in the first three rounds of the 2008 CJHL draft.

Gone to Nepean for forward Mitch Gallant (’90) and Nepean’s 3rd Round Pick is Captain Ryan Medel.  This was Ryan’s third year with the OJS and he was an exemplary leader both on and off the ice. Best of Luck Ryan – We all wish you well!

OJS Scoring Leader Aaron MacLeod was sent off to Brockville for a 1st and 3rd Round Pick while Ste. Julienne, Quebec native Maxime Pelletier was sent to Divisional Rivals Hawkesbury for Center Andrew Hampton (’90) and Kanata’s 3rd Round Pick.  Both Players will be sorely missed by the OJS Family and carry with them our best
wishes!

With an eye towards the future the OJS also signed Goalie Antoine Desrosiers (’89). previously  with the Nipawin Hawkes (SJHL). Antoine will back-up now starting Goalie Niels-Erik Ravn who has performed extremely well for the OJS in both starts since the start of the New Year.

Goalie Matt Tendler was released.

The OJS are also pleased to announce that Darren Graff, previously of the Nepean Raiders, has also joined our expanding scouting staff.  Darren will assist current staff at the Minor and Major Midget AAA and Junior B levels.
Welcome aboard Darren!

GM/Head Coach Makes Changes
Sens Roster Changes

New Coach and GM Mike Ruest wasted little time moving his Roster around this week and the result has been + “500” hockey since he joined the OJS compiling a 3-2 record. Veteran Forward Jeff Christison (’87) went to Nepean for Center Michael Webley (’90) and Nepean’s 2008 Second Round Selection, while Matthew White (’89), who was recently acquired from Kanata was called up from the South Ottawa Canadians. This past week saw the OJS win against a surprised Raiders squad (First Overall at the time), a well-earned victory over Kemptville on Friday Night and a solid win against Cornwall on Saturday. There won’t be any rest this week when the OJS face Pembroke on Wednesday at home. See you at the game!
