COMMITMENT ALERT | Bailey Brant commits to Lake Forest College for 2020-2021

Ottawa, ON – Ottawa Jr. Senators ’99 defenceman Bailey Brant has committed to NCAA-D3 Lake Forest College for this upcoming season.

Brant, 21, totaled a goal, eight assists, and nine points in 60 games this season. The Greely, ON native accumulated eight goals, 47 assists, for 55 points through 271 career CCHL games split between Nepean and Ottawa.

“I’m very excited to join LFC,” said Brant. “It’s a great school that I had my eye on with a top-ranked hockey program. I can not wait to get started.”

Brant was acquired in a trade with the Nepean Raiders in October of 2017 and would go on to become one of the main staples on the Jr. Senators blue line. He was named a Yzerman Division All-Star this past November, as well as apart of the CCHL for an exhibition game at UMass Lowell in December.

“We’re very happy for Bailey because he really embodies what it takes to be a Jr. Senator,” said Head Coach Martin Dagenais. “He’s tough, plays the right way, and has the ability to raise his game in crucial times. He’s also a gentleman in and outside of the rink.”

He is just one of nine Jr. Senators players to have their name engraved in both the Bogart Cup and Fred Page Cup twice.

“Bailey was a big part of our two championships,” added Dagenais. “Last year especially where he and Adrien Bisson had to play the oppositions top line all playoffs long. Lake Forest is getting a good one. I expect him to be a big part of this team for the next four years.”

Brant now joins the list of Jr. Senators who will be attending U Sports or NCAA programs next year as Christophe Côté (Brock), Owen Cole (UMass Lowell), Conor Smart (Oswego State), and Faisal Alsaif (Williams) will all go off to begin their post junior hockey careers.
