COMMITMENT ALERT | Bodie Nobes commits to NCAA DI University of Maine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are proud to announce the commitment of defenceman Bodie Nobes to NCAA Division I University of Maine (Orono, ME).

Nobes, 18, joined the Jr. Senators in a February trade with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Cobourg Cougars in which he appeared in three games with OJS, tallying a goal and two helpers.

“We are obviously very happy and proud of Bodie. When we acquired him last season, we knew we were getting a solid hockey player, but also a tremendous individual,” said OJS head coach Martin Dagenais. “This commitment to the University of Maine is a testament to his hard work. We understand that the 2021-22 season will be an important one for Bodie, and we will do what we can to help him get to another level as a hockey player.

Before breaking into junior hockey, the Sainte-Thérèse, Québec native spent two seasons with Stanstead College scoring nine times while adding 27 assists in 77 games.

“I am extremely honoured to announce my commitment to the University of Maine and a thrilling feeling to join such a high-class organization,” said Nobes. It is really a perfect fit for me. They are a winning franchise surrounded by a great atmosphere. And they play in a small town the reminds me a lot of back home. I would like to thank all my family and friends who have been by my side over the years.”

Nobes is the son of the late Kelly Nobes, a 20-year veteran who was behind the bench with McGill, Royal Military College, and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Men’s Hockey programs.

“I would also like to thank the Ottawa Jr. Senators organization for helping me reach this step in my career,” added Nobes. “I’m really looking forward to having a winning season in Ottawa and a strong comeback after Covid. The next few years will be lots of fun.”

Nobes becomes the ninth member of the 2020-21 Junior Senators to be committed to either a college hockey program or major junior, joining Braeden Bowman (Guelph Storm), Chandler Romeo (Hamilton Bulldogs), Zakary Lavoie (Mississauga Steelheads), Simon Isabelle (RIT), Kaleb Nelson (Providence College), Isaac Lambert (University of Maine), Ian Tookenay (Norwich University), and Ethan Mulhearn (Hobart College).
