Ottawa, ON – Former Ottawa Jr. Senators forward David Toppa has committed to U Sports Royal Military College for this upcoming season.

Toppa, 22, totaled nine goals, 17 assists, and 26 points in 31 games in his final junior season last year. The Gatineau, QC native accumulated 53 goals, 90 assists, for 146 points through 136 career CJHL games split between Thetford Mines of the QCHL and Ottawa.

He will now skate alongside former Jr. Senators teammate Noah Rowe, who just completed his first season with the Paladins, after winning both the Bogart and Fred Page Cups last spring.

“My parents were both in the military, so for a very long time I have been attracted to the military and that lifestyle on what it can provide,” said Toppa. “Going to RMC will allow me to have the privilege to play U Sports hockey while getting my degree and learning my future job as an officer, has me very excited.”

During the Jr. Senators march to their second straight championships, Toppa recorded two goals and eight assists over 22 games during the playoffs, Fred Page Cup, and National Jr. A Championships.

“We are very happy for David,” said Head Coach and GM Martin Dagenais. “He was a big part of our championship teams last season and we wish him all the best with RMC.”

Toppa now joins the list of Jr. Senators who will be attending U Sports or NCAA programs next year as Christophe Côté (Brock), Tucker McIntosh (St. Lawrence), Owen Cole (UMass Lowell), Conor Smart (Oswego State), Faisal Alsaif (Williams), and Bailey Brant (Lake Forrest) will all go off to begin their post junior hockey careers.
