FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are proud to announce the commitment of forward Jake Code to NCAA DIII Aurora University (Aurora, Illinois) for the 2022-2023 season.
Code, 21, joined OJS at the CCHL trade deadline in January from the Carleton Place Canadians.
The Elmira native tallied 11 goals and 14 assists in 25 games prior to the mid-season trade to the Jr. Senators. While with OJS, Code recorded two goals and six helpers in 15 games. In the postseason, Code added a pair of goals and four assists, while notching two assists at the Centennial Cup.
“I’m really fired up and excited to be heading to a place with so much opportunity and excitement, especially around our incoming class,” said Code. “Being ranked as the number 1 recruiting class in the country, there’s a lot of expectations and pressure that come with that, but I really enjoy that challenge. Similar to my time in OJS, there were high expectations for our squad, and being able to perform under that pressure is definitely something that I’m really proud of our group for. A lot of credit should be pointed, obviously to the players, but also to the leadership group and coaching staff. OJS was a great place for my development and gave me the opportunity to play high-end, competitive hockey while experiencing a day-to-day similar to the next level. Our coaches did a great job of preparing us for the competition through practices, video sessions, one on ones, and pre-scouts. It was a pretty awesome ride to be a part of a great group of fellas that I’m glad to all call friends.”
Prior to OJS, Code spent four seasons with the Canadians organization, where he was of 111 CCHL games. The Elmira native had eclipsed 43 goals and 49 assists across his time in the league and brought a much-needed veteran presence to what was an already deep forward crop at OJS. Code joined CP from the Waterloo Wolves organization in 2018, where he was assigned to their Jr. B affiliate, Carleton Place Jr. Canadians of the then CCHL2.
Code becomes the eighth member of the 2021-22 Junior Senators to commit to either a post-junior program, joining William Desmarais (Ontario Tech), Sam Edwards (Maryville), David Mabey (York), Thomas Freel (Maine), Philippe Jacques (RIT), Bodie Nobes (Maine), and Simon Isabelle (RIT).
