COMMITMENT ALERT | Simon Isabelle commits to NCAA D1 RIT for 2022-2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are proud to announce the commitment of forward Simon Isabelle to NCAA Division I Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY) for the 2022-2023 season.

Isabelle, 20, is currently in his first season with the Jr. Senators after joining the club over the summer following two seasons in the Québec Collegiate Hockey League.

“We are extremely happy for Simon and his family,” outlined Head Coach Martin Dagenais. “Our staff felt he was a Division One player when we scouted him last year in the QCHL and he will be one of our go-to players for the next year and a half.”

In 66 career QCHL games with the St-Hyacinthe Lauréats, Isabelle tallied 21 goals and 42 assists for 63 points. The smooth-skating two-way centre ranked top 10 in assists and top 20 in points during the 2019-2020 campaign.

“I’m honoured and excited for this opportunity to play and study at RIT,” said Isabelle. “I want to thank the Ottawa Jr. Senators organization for everything they have done for me to make this next step in my career in such little time.”

So far this season in CCHL Developmental Scrimmage Action, the Whitehorse, Yukon native has posted four assists in five games.

“Simon has brought tremendous intelligence and hockey sense to our club,” added Dagenais. “He distributes the puck very well and is extremely responsible defensively. We think R.I.T. is getting a talented hockey player who plays the right way.”

Isabelle will follow in the footsteps of former Jr. Senators Ian Andriano (2013-2017) and Zach Salloum (2018) who have both skated with the Tigers in recent years.

The Jr. Senators continue to await the start of the CCHL season.
