Jr. Senators add to blueline with signing of Alexander Park

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are pleased to announce the signing of defenceman Alexander Park, who spent last season with the LaSalle Vipers of the GOJHL.

The 6’4, 185 lbs Chatham, Ontario native, unfortunately, got into no games this past season due to the Ontario lockdown but brings a lot to a young OJS blueline.

“I am a two-way defenseman that isn’t scared to jump in the play when I see an opportunity,” said Park. “I also look at all my options and know when is the best time to stay back. I always think defence first and protecting my own end. I’m a big physical player who enjoys hard hockey and making it difficult on the other team in the corners and on zone entries.”

The Windsor Spitfires 1st round pick in the 2020 OHL U18 draft was also given the opportunity to make his junior hockey debut during the 2019-2020 season, suiting up for the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons as an affiliated player. The 17-year-old has had OJS on his radar as he prepares to leave home after playing his minor hockey with both the Chatham-Kent Cyclones and Windsor Jr. Spitfires programs.

“The Ottawa Jr. Senators are a very historic team and have proven themselves to be one of the top Junior A programs in Canada,” added Park. “They are great for developing players while also succeeding as a team. Playing in Ottawa will help prepare me for my future goals in hockey.”

Although away from the game for nearly 18 months due to the shutdown, Park is looking to make a splash on the blueline, both on the team and in the league, as he tries to make it to the next level.

“My short-term goals are winning and growing as a team while also developing my shot along with all areas of my game, as I feel I always have room to grow,” highlighted Park. “Down the road, my goal is to get an NCAA Division I scholarship, so I can get an education while continuing to play hockey.”

The CCHL enters its 61st consecutive season, continuing to be the longest-running Junior A league in Canada with the Jr. Senators beginning the season on September 24 in Brockville.
