Jr. Senators drop a close one against the Rockland Nationals

Ottawa, ON –  The Ottawa Jr. Senators dropped a tight game against the Rockland Nationals 4-3 on Saturday night.

Prior to the start of the game members of last years Bogart Cup Championship squad were honored and received beautiful championship rings to commemorate the fantastic accomplishment.

Ottawa opened the scoring early in the 2nd period as Mackenzie White tallied his 1st goal as a member of the Jr. Sens at the 7:09 mark.

The Nationals didn’t waste much time getting back into the game though as Vincent Labelle and Cameron Last both scored in succession to give Rockland a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes of play.

Maxime Blanchard tied the game up 2-2 early in the 3rd period for Ottawa but Gunnar Smith put Rockland back on top for good with just over 2 minutes left in the game after Ethan Mulhearn was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Head Coach Martin Dagenais was impressed with tonight’s effort despite the end result.

“I thought we were good, way better then last night” said Dagenais. “They are going to be a very good team in this league (Rockland) I think a lot of people see them finishing first or second overall, but our new guys responded very well and I certainly believe we deserved a better fate”

The Jr. Senators will be back in action Friday night against the Kemptville 73’s in the first game of the 2019 CCHL Showcase from the Richcraft Sensplex.
