Jr. Senators fall short in tough loss vs Rockland

By Matt Wilson

Rockland, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators dropped a tough 4-2 decision to the Rockland Nationals on Friday night snapping the teams mini two game win streak.

Ottawa got off to a quick start with David Berube opening the scoring capitalizing off of a great feed from Thomas Freel exactly one minute into the game, giving the Jr. Senators all the momentum early on. But it didn’t last for long as Cameron Scrivens got the Nationals on the board to tie the game up at one at the 9:20 mark of the 1st Period.

One of the main story lines for Ottawa and Rockland was the play of both goaltenders as both Cole Hudson and Bryan Landsberger were terrific throughout the game. Hudson stopping 25 of 27 shots in the win and Landsberger stopping 29 of 32 shots faced in a losing effort.

Cole Craft added 2 goals for Rockland in the 2nd Period meanwhile Josh Shimizu was able to find the back of the net and score his 1st as a member of the Jr. Senators, but ultimately for Ottawa they were unable to capitalize on multiple power play opportunities which led to their 5th straight loss to Rockland this season.

It doesn’t get any easier for OJS as Sunday afternoon they head up Highway 7 for a battle with the 1st place Carleton Place Canadians. Puck drop is set for 3:00pm and you can watch the game on Hockey TV and listen to it on mixlr.com/ojsradio.
