Jr. Senators hold off Wolves to take series lead

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators and the Renfrew Wolves faced off in game three of the Bogart Cup Semi-Finals and were able to take the series lead by defeating Renfrew 2-1 in Ottawa on Wednesday night.

It was a goaltending battle between Will Desmarais and Will Craig. There were no even-strength goals from either side as special teams came into play. It was a back and forth affair to start the first and Ottawa got on the board on the power play by Philippe Jacques with 38 seconds left in the first frame.

Ottawa dominated Renfrew the first half of the second period, which saw Simon Isabelle score his second of the series off a nice pass from Julian Recine. Renfrew would add the only marker from Charlie Johnson shorthanded during the third period.

William Desmarais made 30 saves while Renfrew’s Will Craig made 35 saves in game three. Julian Recine added two assists. Ottawa outshot Renfrew 37-31. The Jr. Sens went 2-for-3 on the power play while Renfrew went 0-for-1.

Game four happens Friday night inside the Ma-te-way Activity Centre where Ottawa will have a chance to take a commanding lead in the series. Davide Disipio and Mason Detre will have the call on the Jr. Senators broadcast network on mixlr.com/ojsradio.
