Jr. Senators receive commitment from Uturo

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are pleased to announce the signing of forward Andrew Uturo, who spent last season with the Leamington Flyers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

The 5’10, 176 lbs Wyoming, Michigan native tallied 22 goals and 17 assists in 47 games during the 2021-2022 campaign. Uturo also posted seven points in 16 playoff games.

“Ottawa called and I had a really good talk with Coach Makaric,” said Uturo. “The team had a phenomenal season last year and I’m looking forward to coming in and hopefully making an impact and bettering myself as a player and person.”

Already adding to the forward group this year with the likes of Lucas Staresinic, Nicolas Papineau, and Émile Villiard, Uturo is looking to do whatever is needed for the reigning CCHL champions under Makaric’s guidance.

“I like to play a full 200 ft. Game and help the team out both offensively and defensively,” added Uturo. “If the team needs a blocked shot I will lay down for the team and if the team needs a spark I will play the body and get the boys going.”

Entering his second season of junior hockey, Uturo played three seasons of High School hockey at Grandville High School in Grandville, Michigan. A right-handed shot, Uturo totaled 66 points in 61 High School games and will spend his second straight season north of the border.

“My short-term goal in hockey is to have another successful season of junior hockey and keep advancing as a player,” outlined Uturo. “My long-term goal is to hopefully make it to play NCAA hockey whether that is D1 or D3 and play pro hockey in the future.”
