Jr. Senators select 11 in 2022 CCHL Bantam Protect Draft

Ottawa, ON – Over the past week, the CCHL held its annual Bantam Protect Draft, this time virtually. The Ottawa Jr. Senators selected a total of 11 players; six forwards, four defencemen, and one goaltender.

“The staff was pleased with how the draft unfolded,” said general manager Jamie Mayo. “We feel that we added some highly skilled players with a strong compete level whose style of play strengthens our program. Our first two selections Tristan Webb and Calum Hartnell are players who play with pace and will be huge parts of the OJS U-18 program next season.”

The Ottawa Jr. Senators U18 program went 21-8-3 during the 2021-2022 season, good enough for fourth in the league under Head Coach Steve Mallette. In recent years the program has seen many highly touted graduates including Merrick Rippon (Acadia), Cedrick Andree (UPEI), Ranvir Gill-Shane (Ottawa 67’s), Sean McGurn (London Knights), Kyle MacDonald (North Bay Battalion), Adrien Bisson (Maine), Gabriel Carriere (Vermont), Brendan Bays (Quebec Remparts), and current Jr. A members Braxton Ross, Thomas Freel, Tomislav Brennan, James Taylor, and Sam Grabner.

Both Nolan Turnbull and Ryan White are talented defencemen who we hope will be a part of our organization in the future.”

Goalie

Round 3: Noah Paddock, Ottawa Jr. 67’s

“For the first time we selected a goaltender with an early pick choosing Noah Paddock from the Ottawa Jr 67s AAA team,” highlighted Mayo. “Paddock is an athletic goaltender who our scouts rated extremely high. You cannot win without solid goaltending and we feel we have that with Noah.”
