Jr Senators sign Maxim Lavoie Solidifying Goalie Tandem

The Ottawa Jr Senators are pleased to announce the signing of French goaltender Maxim Lavoie for the 2025-26 season. By signing Lavoie, the team solidifies a strong tandem between the pipes for the upcoming season.

“I’m thrilled to be able to play at OJS this year,” said Lavoie.

Born in 2007 in Powell River, British Columbia, Lavoie holds dual citizenship in Canada and France. He spent the last two seasons at Bourget College in Rigaud, QC.

His progress during that time can be seen in his save percentage, which jumped from .866 in his first season to .922 in his second year.

Lavoie is a solid goaltender who employs a steady style between the pipes. While he can make flashy saves when called upon, he prefers to rely on his positioning and hockey knowledge to get the job done. He thinks his style will make Jr Senators fans feel confident when it’s his turn to man the crease.

He’s unique in that he’s one of the very few players his age to play internationally for his country. Over the summer, Lavoie played for France’s U20 team at the Super Challenge in Sweden. The tournament is one of three events France uses to prepare for the World Juniors in December.

“It was a great experience overall and super fun,” said Lavoie. “We played some good games against some strong teams, which made it a great experience.”

At 18 years old, Lavoie is a relatively young goaltender who comes to the team with a ton of potential. He will be partnered with returning goaltender Josh Scully who will no doubt help the younger netminder settle into the life of a junior hockey player.
