Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are pleased to announce the signing of forward Nicolas, who spent last season with the Ottawa Jr. Canadians of the EOJHL.
The 5’10, 160 lbs Gatineau, Quebec native tallied 15 goals and 10 assists in 40 games during the 2021-2022 campaign. Papineau also put up an impressive seven points in six playoff games, when the Jr. Canadians fell in the Martin Division Quarter-Finals.
“OJS is a top-class organization that prides itself on the development of its players,” mentioned Papineau. “They have a winning culture and continue to demonstrate time and time again that their management makes sound decisions for both their players and the team’s goals. I see a lot of myself in those values and wanted to be part of a hockey family where I could grow as a player and also as a member of the community.”
As the club heads into a new direction with the loss of key offensive contributors from a year ago, Papineau is excited to show what he’s got for the reigning champions.
“I am a fast offensive-minded player that uses speed to create plays and create scoring opportunities, said Papineau. ” I can also lockdown on defense when I’m needed. I will bring a high compete level to the team and some will to win and hopefully make a difference in every shift I take.”
Entering his second season of junior hockey, Papineau is willing to do whatever it takes this upcoming season to send the Jr. Senators to familiar territory come the spring.
“With this being my first year with OJS, I want to grow within the organization and be able to contribute effectively to the team,” added Papineau. “I want to learn from the coaches and veterans while still being a key contributor and help the team succeed. My long-time goals are to get to the next level being in either NCAA hockey, CHL hockey, or U-Sports. I want to get there at all costs and will work as hard as possible.”

Ottawa, ON – L’organisation des P’tits Sénateurs d’Ottawa est fier d’annoncer la mise sous contrat de l’attaquant Nicolas Papineau, qui a passé la dernière saison avec les Canadiens d’Ottawa au niveau Junior B.
Natif de Gatineau au Québec, Papineau a marqué 15 buts en plus d’obtenir 10 mentions d’assistance en 40 parties la saison dernière. C’est en séries qu’il a été le plus impressionnant, obtenant sept points en seulement six parties.
« C’est certain que c’est excitant de me joindre aux Sénateurs. C’est une organisation qui non seulement gagne année après année mais qui a développé d’excellents joueurs de hockey récemment, a mentionné Papineau. En jasant avec les entraîneurs, j’ai tout de suite su que c’est ici que je voulais jouer. Il y a une culture de gagnant ici et j’ai hâte d’y faire partie. »
Avec le départ de plusieurs vétérans offensifs, Papineau aura la chance de se prouver dès qu’il joindra sa nouvelle équipe. Ce sera à lui de saisir sa chance.
« Je me considère comme étant un joueur à caractère offensif qui sait utiliser sa vitesse pour créer des occasions de marquer. Mais je suis aussi fiable défensivement. En bout de ligne, je suis un joueur qui va se défoncer match après match et qui fera tout pour aider son équipe à gagner. »
Le jeune attaquant de 5’10 et 160 livres qui en sera à sa deuxième saison dans les rangs juniors a déjà hâte que la saison débute.
« Ce sera ma première année avec OJS, donc je sais qu’il y aura un ajustement. Je veux vraiment grandir avec l’organisation afin de contribuer à ma façon aux succès de l’équipe, a ajouté Papineau. Je suis ici pour apprendre des entraîneurs et des vétérans et espérer progresser pour un jour être capable de passer au prochain niveau comme joueur de hockey. »
