Jr. Senators win fourth straight in a dominating win over the Lumber Kings

Pembroke, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators traveled to the Pembroke Memorial Centre on Sunday night to take on the Lumber Kings and came home with a decisive 6-1 win on the road.

The story of the evening was the stellar play of OJS goaltender Bryan Landsberger and the three different fighting majors that were handed out all during the third period.

Ottawa opened the scoring very early into the night as Julien Recine fired home his 4th goal since joining the Jr. Senators off of a feed from Ethan Mulhearn, Cameron Hough tied the game up quickly for the Lumber Kings though on a shot from a bad angle which left things all squared up at one a piece. Before the first twenty minutes were up though Thomas Freel and David Berube gave the Jr. Senators some more life offensively each scoring their 25th and 20th goals of the season respectively.

In the second period of play Bryan Landsberger had to be sharp between the pipes for Ottawa as Pembroke fired eleven shots on net including a couple of really nice scoring opportunities that came off of odd man rushes, but Landsberger was extremely solid in the period.

The third period of play had lots of fireworks for both teams, it started with Christophe Cote scoring his third goal in the last two games and only ten seconds later dropping the gloves with Lumber Kings forward Fletcher Anderson directly at centre ice. The scrap gave Cote the Gordie Howe Hat Trick on the night as he also recorded an assist on David Berube’s first period marker. It wasn’t the only fight of the period as Sam Holy and Josh Shimizu also dropped the mitts about four minutes after the first fight of the period.

Michael Eftimovski and Faisal Alsaif rounded out the scoring for Ottawa on the night and sealed the deal on another massive win for the Jr. Senators who continue the teams longest winning streak of the season which now sits at four. The Jr. Senators also jump back ahead of the Smiths Falls Bears for fifth place in the CCHL standings due to having played one less game then the Bears.

Next up for OJS is a match up at home with the Navan Grads who currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the CCHL standings. Puck drop is set for 7:20 pm from the Jim Durrell Complex and the game can be heard on mixlr.com/ojsradio and seen on Hockey TV.
