Ottawa: 2 – Kemptville: 1
Last Wednesday, The Ottawa Junior Senators knocked off the second-place Kemptville 73s in a hard fought 2-1 tilt, climbing the standings to join them back in a tie for second place. Ottawa showed why they were the league’s least penalized team, taking only three penalties to Kemptivlle’s seven.
The Jr Sens struck on their first powerplay of the game with 73’s forward Lucas Achim in the box for tripping. When six skaters were looking for a loose puck in their legs in front of Kemptville goalie, Rylan Donovan, Forward Caleb Mead was the first one to find it and bury it in the back of the net, putting Ottawa up 1-0.
Jr Sens alternate captain, Ethan Lobe recorded his third point in his three games since returning from injury with his assist on Mead’s goal.
Early in the second, Kemptville Forward, Owen Redmond got open in the slot and tapped in Jay Zeus Mbarushimana’s pass after he drew away Ottawa’s last defender. This would be the only goal Josh Scully would give up in the midweek contest, solidifying his spot as the CCHL’s first star of the week, last time out.
The Jr. Sens’ dicipline kept paying off after the game got tied up. After two powerplays oportunities with more posession than payoff, Henry Brady froze Donovan in place before sending the puck over to Deklyn Campbell who put it past a sprawling Donavan for his third goal in as many games with the Jr Sens.
The game ended with Scully stopping 34 of 35 shots and hsi team moving to second place in the CCHL standings with only the Rockland Nationals ahead of them.
Next game is scheduled at home for Saturday Nov 1 against the tenth-placed Renfrew Wolves at 7:30pm.
