Jr. Sens win streak ends in OT loss to Smiths Falls

The Ottawa Jr. Senators (8-3-1) ended the week going 2-0-1, losing in overtime against the Smiths Falls Bears (3-7-1) at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Richardson would open the scoring, sniping one blocker side on starter Felix Schnell on an early man advantage.

Late in the period, Owen Cole would tie the game after Tucker McIntosh shot the puck off the glass resulting in a rebound in front of the net for Cole to pot home his fifth of the season.

The game would be tied at one heading into the third,  where Andrew McKenney would get his fourth of the year to give the Bears a 2-1 lead.

Four minutes later, Vincent Velocci tied the game by recording his fourth of the year.

Ottawa guaranteed themselves a point as the game headed to overtime tied at two.

With just over 3 minutes to play, Bruce Coltart carried the puck down low and gave a pass cross-ice pass to Justin Trudel who would get his first goal of the year, and the game-winner.

Smiths Falls outshot Ottawa 34-29. Ottawa went 2-for-6 on the power play, and the penalty kill went 7-for-8.

The next game goes Wednesday morning at 11:45 am when the Pembroke Lumber Kings in our annual school day game.
