Junior Senators feature in CJHL rankings following sixth consecutive win

Earlier today, the CJHL released the most recent top-20 rankings, which included the Ottawa Junior Senators listed at 17th overall. The addition to the rankings comes after Ottawa recorded its sixth consecutive win on Sunday against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

The 2-1 win over Pembroke was a tight afair that came down to the final minutes of play. Despite outshooting the Lumber Kings 29-19 going into the third period, the two teams were deadlocked at one goal apiece. It wasn’t until 16:33 of the third period that David Deschatelets broke the tie by breaking free on the rush and sniping a puck glove side on Pembroke goaltender Logan Heideman. Deschatelets’ second goal of the season couldn’t have come at a better time, as it sealed the victory for Ottawa.

The 12 points Ottawa has collected on the winning streak have done wonders for the team in the standings. The team now sits firmly in second place behind Rockland with a four-point lead on Navan and Kemptville, who are tied for third.

Another standout player in Ottawa’s win was goaltender Josh Scully, who had a fantastic month of October, winning seven of the nine games he played in during the spookiest month of the year. He now leads all CCHL goaltenders in goals-against average (1.87), save percentage (9.31) and is second in wins with nine.

On the downside, centre Deklyn Campbell’s five-game point streak came to an end on Sunday. The recent acquisition had picked up a point in every game since joining the team until that point.

Next week, Ottawa will attempt to keep its winning streak going. They have a pair of tough matchups against Smiths Falls on Friday and the undefeated Rockland Nationals on Saturday. It will be the first meeting between Ottawa and Rockland since their preseason tilt in September.
