The Junior Senators are very exited to announce that Forward, Ian Burnett has signed with the team for the 2025-26 season.
The self proclaimed playmaker, goal scorer and physical player with a smaller stature, expressed nothing but excitement in joining the Jr. Sens, an organization he’s very familiar with.
A quick look at his stats back up his confidence.
Burnett was a part of the Jr Senators U18 team in his first year of AAA where he posted a near point-per-game performance with 31 points in 34 games. He didn’t slow down after leaving, posting 34 points in 35 games last season, good enough to place him second in points for Bourget Preparatory College in Rigaud, QC.
“Anytime you can sign a hometown player who previously suited up for your U18 team, it’s a great moment for the organization,” said Jr Senators General Manager Pat McCallen. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Ian wear an OJS sweater again.”
Burnett says he already knows a few players on the team and can’t wait to get his junior career started.
“I’m friggin exited!” Said the 5’10” 160 pounder. “I’m going to have to be on the ball 24/7, the intensity is going to be way more [than prep] but it’ll be fun.”‘
The transition from prep to junior can often tricky but McCallen isn’t worried about that transition at all.
“Ian’s speed and his willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win will make that [transition] smoother.”
Burnett’s offensive flair is likely to get him some time on the power play but he says he’s ready to prove himself and so whatever it takes, simply for the love of the game.
“I just want to play hockey”
