The Ottawa Jr Senators are excited to announce that Léo St-Michel will sign with the team for the 2024-25 season.

“It was a tough decision,” said St-Michel. “I had friends who played there in the past and they said it was a great organisation … I am excited to commit to this team.”

St-Michel profiles as a playmaking center who excels on the offensive side of the puck. While playing for the Sorel-Tracy Rebelles, St-Michel led the QCHL in points scoring 26 goals and 34 assists in 36 games.

While he can put the puck in the net, his true strengths are his vision and hockey IQ. Averaging nearly an assist per game, St-Michel’s ability to find his teammates and set them up for scoring chances is what set him apart in the QCHL.

His stats prove this beyond a doubt. Over the course of 100 games in the QCHL St-Michel recorded 105 assists.

St-Michel has also proven he can be a big-time playoff performer. In 18 payoff games he recorded 26 points.

The 2004-born forward will likely be a large part of the Jr Senators next season. While last year’s team worked hard, they often struggled to find the back of the net. St-Michel will undoubtedly play an important part in improving those numbers in the coming season.

“Its going to be an adjustment,” said St-Michel. “I want to do well with the team, and obviously the team comes first. I want to help the team.

When he isn’t on the ice, St-Michel enjoys being outdoors and hanging out with his friends. He will be taking classes while he is in Ottawa, though as of right now, he is unsure where he will take them.

While St-Michel has been to Ottawa in the past, he has not had much time to explore the city and see the sights.

“I hope my future teammates will be able to show me the city while I am in Ottawa,” said St-Michel.
