Mark Grady To Return As Jr Senators Head Coach

The Ottawa Jr Senators are pleased to announce that Head Coach Mark Grady has been extended. As such, he will be back behind the bench for Ottawa next season.

Grady joined the Jr Senators in early November and worked swiftly to right what appeared to be a sinking ship. Prior to Grady joining the group, they held an 8-13 record, placing them near the bottom of the standings. Even with the coaching change, things didn’t really improve until after the break.

Between Dec. 18 and Jan. 25, Ottawa went on a run, winning seven consecutive games, effectively launching itself back into contention for a playoff spot. While the Jr Senators missed the playoffs, they were in a very real battle at the end of the season to take a spot.

Ultimately, they finished four points back of the eighth and final playoff spot. This was no mean feat considering they were considered well out of contention by many at the midway point of the season.

Grady brings with him 14 years of experience coaching the CCHL. During his long tenure, he’s coached for many teams, including the Cumberland Grads, Nepean Raiders, Smiths Falls Bears and now the Junior Senators. He also spent a brief stint in the OHL coaching alongside the legendary Brian Kilrea
