Ottawa bounces back with a game three win, now lead series 2-1

Kanata, Ontario – The Ottawa Jr. Senators recorded a 5-1 win over the Kanata Lasers in game three of their Bogart Cup Quarterfinal’ on Thursday night at the KRC.

The Jr. Senators now take a 2-1 lead after bouncing back from Wednesday’s 4-1 loss in game two. It’s the first time since the 2015-16 playoffs that Ottawa had been tied 1-1 in a series, and took a 2-1 series lead.

Ottawa scored three unanswered goals in the first period. The third was Owen Cole’s second of the playoffs and the Jr. Senators’ first power-play goal of the series, snapping an 0-12 skid.

Conor Smart scored his second of the game early in the second period, making it 4-0. He now has three goals in the post-season and five goals over his last four games (if you count the regular season).

Francis Boisvert made 29-saves in the victory. The biggest came early in the game when he robbed Trevor Poeze point-blank. That could have given the Lasers a 1-0 lead.

Ottawa outshot Kanata 54-30 in the win. Darcy Walsh (1G/2A) and Elie Boulerice (2A) quietly ended the night with multi-point games.
