Ottawa Jr. Senators win 2019 Bogart Cup

Carleton Place, Ontario – The Ottawa Jr. Senators defeated the Carleton Place Canadians, 4-2, for their second straight Bogart Cup on Sunday afternoon inside the Carleton Place Arena.

The Jr. Sens win back-to-back Bogart Cup’s for the first time in franchise history and record their fifth championship in franchise history.

Ottawa’s Adrien Bisson opened the scoring with under a minute left in the first period. He fired a high shot past the glove of Carleton Place goaltender Connor Murphy from the left point on the power play.

The Jr. Senators were unable to keep the lead in the second period as the Canadians scored two unanswered goals on two separate five-on-three man-advantage’s. Both goals were scored in the final few minutes of the second period.

It was Ottawa’s Kyle Jackson that tied the game on the power play early in the third that gave the Jr. Sens some momentum. He scored his seventh of the post-season after he pounced on a rebound. Just over three minutes later – Danny Pion scored the game-winner, deflecting in Bisson’s shot from the point.

Carleton Place outshot Ottawa 38-20 in the game, but were outshot 12-8 by Ottawa in the third. Their third period comeback was the Jr. Senators second of the series.

Kyle Jackson and Adrien Bisson ended the night with 1G/1A. Owen Cole scored the empty netter for his sixth of the playoffs and his 12th point and Jackson’s multi-point game gives him 13-points.

After Francis Boisvert’s 36-save performance on Sunday, he finishes the playoffs with a 1.46 GAA and .946 SV% – which both set the new Ottawa Jr. Senators franchise playoff record for GAA / SV%.

Ottawa has now punched a ticket to the 2019 Fred Page Cup in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The tournament starts on Wednesday May 1st and ends on Sunday May 5th.
