Ottawa’s three-game winning streak ends in Hawkesbury

Hawkesbury, Ontario – The Ottawa Jr. Senators (21-9-2) had their three-game winning streak snapped, 3-1 at the hands of the Hawkesbury Hawks (22-9-2) on Friday night at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex.

The Hawks take a two-point lead over the Jr. Sens in the CCHL2 standings. They now have 46 points and sit second in the division (4th, CCHL) while Ottawa is now third in the division with 44 points (5th, CCHL).

With the Hawkesbury win, they trail the season series 2-1, having been outscored by Ottawa 11 GF / 6 GA. Their next matchup will be on January 19th for the fourth of six meetings.

The Ottawa Jr. Senators broke the shutout with just over minute left in regulation to avoid being shutout for the first time since 2016. Andrew Remer found a lose puck in the crease and fired it past Matthew Petizian for his fifth of the year.

Blair Battochio’s slew footing penalty with under ten-minutes left in the game was the difference as he received a match penalty, putting Ottawa on a five-minute penalty kill.

On their power-play, Matthew Titus tipped in Mike Nantais’s point-shot to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.

Joshua Ward made a career-high 47 saves, allowing three-goals on 50 shots in the loss.
