Owen Cole Commits to UMass Lowell

Ottawa, Ontario – Late last night Ottawa Jr. Senators ’00 F Owen Cole announced his commitment to NCAA D-1 UMass Lowell.

Cole, 18, has 16 goals, 27 assists and 43 points in 33 games this season. He leads the league in points per-game at 1.30 and is T-1st in points, 3rd in assists and 10th in goals. The Dunnville, Ontario native is expected to join the UMass Lowell River Hawks in the 2020-21 season.

“I chose UMass Lowell because everything felt right when I went on my tour. From the coaching staff, to the athletic training and the facilities, everything top to bottom is amazing there. At the end of the day, it is truly my best opportunity to reach my hockey goals,” said Owen Cole on why UMass is a great fit for him.

Prior to joining the Jr. Senators, Cole played two years at Ridley College which is a prep school located in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Ottawa Jr. Senators Assistant Coach Jamie Mayo recruited Cole to join Ottawa in the off-season and is very proud of his hard work.

“The entire Junior Senators organization is ecstatic for Owen. From day one he has embraced the process and contributed significantly on and off the ice. U Mass-Lowell is getting a tremendous two-way forward who can play in all situations.”

“Owen’s work habits and strong character have also made an incredibly strong impression on our coaching staff. He is constantly looking for ways to improve on both an individual and team level. We think he has an extremely bright future ahead of him.”

The Ottawa Jr. Senators are back in action on Wednesday January 9th, 2019 against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.
