Overview:
The Ottawa Junior Senators are seeking a young, motivated, knowledgeable, and dedicated Assistant
Coach to join our staff. This position is ideal for an individual looking to build a career in the hockey
industry and gain hands-on experience within a Junior A organization. While this is an unpaid position, it
provides a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced members of the staff, contribute to player
development, participate in hockey operations decisions, and develop a strong network within the game.
The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of coaching and
team management at a highly competitive level, making it an excellent stepping stone for those aspiring
to advance in coaching, scouting, player personnel, or hockey operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and running practices
- Support the development of team systems and special teams
- Provide constructive feedback to players on and off the ice
- Help prepare pre-scouts and game plans
- Support video review and post-game analysis
- Support team meetings and organizational initiatives
- Represent the organization professionally within the hockey community
Qualifications:
- Hockey Canada Development 1 ( or willing to become certified)
- Complete various In Person/Online Certification
- Playing experience at the Junior, College, Professional, or equivalent level is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of hockey systems, player development, and team dynamics
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff
- Availability for practices, games, team events, and recruiting activities
Time Commitment:
- Regular attendance at team practices
- Availability for all home and away games
- Participation in team meetings, camps, and recruiting events as required
