Émile Villiard Commits to OJS

OTTAWA – General Manager Jamie Mayo is proud to announce that forward Émile Villiard has committed to the Ottawa Jr. Senators for the 2022-23 season. The Sorel-Tracy, Québec native finished with an impressive 22 goals and 20 assists for a total of 42 points in only 34 games, good for thirteen overall in scoring in the Quebec Collegiate League.

Villiard is excited to be coming to the nation’s capital: “This team has been the best in the CCHL for the past five years so it was a no-brainer to sign with them. I talked to two former players (Pierre-Luc Veillette and Gabriel Morin) who played on the same collegiate team I played for, and they only had good things to say about the organization.”

For his part, Mayo believes that Villiard will be a player that people will come to appreciate after they see him play a few games.

“I believe Émile is the type of player who becomes better every time you lay eyes on him. He’s a big body that isn’t afraid to drive the net. He plays the right way; he doesn’t cheat. He also comes from one of the best collegiate team in Québec so we think he can play an important role for us as soon as next season’s starts.

Villiard agrees with this assessment. He thinks he can have success in the CCHL by playing the same type of hockey he played at the collegiate level.

“I’m a 200-feet player who has good vision. I also don’t mind throwing my body around. I consider myself as a team-first guy who will do what he can to help the team succeed”

For now, the 19-year-old winger is focused on improving all aspects of his game and hopes to one day play at the NCAA or U Sports level.
