Eric Kane during his time as a member of The Hill Academy Prep school
The Ottawa Jr Senators are happy to announce that 2006-born forward Eric Kane has committed to joining the team next season.
“I’m really excited,” said Kane. “I think I’ll be able to learn a lot and really develop my game.”
The right winger is coming off of a highly successful season playing for The Hill Academy where he recorded 21 goals and 20 assists for a total of 41 points in 34 games at the U18 AAA level. The alternate captain also recorded ten points in nine games in the PPHL 18U.
“I feel like my development really took off with The Hill, and gave me thw opportunity to join the Junior Senators … It’s just a really great program and I feel my conditioning and strength has really improved the last few years,” said Kane.
The Junior Senators have been very successful finding prospects at The Hill Academy in the past. Matthew Verspeeten and former captain Jacob Winsor both spent time at The Hill. Kane will be the most recent addition from the reputable school.
The 6’4 forward prides himself on being a 200-foot player that takes care of his own end of the ice. His slick hands and powerful shot allow him to contribute offensively.
At 187 pounds, Kane will be an important addition to a forward group that lacked size last season. Kane has eight games of junior experience playing in the GOJHL with the Ayr Centennials.
“I want to be able to continue my education with hockey for as long as I can,” said Kane who plans to attend University of Ottawa majoring in Human Kinetics.
When he isn’t on the ice, the young forward enjoys playing ball hockey and softball. When he comes to Ottawa, he hopes he can find the time to visit some of the city’s museums and see the scenery.
