Braves snap Jr. Senators seven game winning streak

Brockville, Ontario – The Ottawa Jr. Senators (12-7) seven game winning streak came to an end on Friday night when the Brockville Braves (15-1) handed them a 5-3 loss at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

Brockville extended their winning streak to 14 games with the win. They are now 14-0 since September 3rd, when they beat OJS at the opening showcase 3-1.

With the Braves up 3-1 heading into the third period, Alec Belanger turned over the puck in front of the Ottawa net, giving Chris Brown an easy goal to make it 4-1 Braves.

After the goal, Head Coach Martin Dagenais benched all of his defensemen and played five forwards instead of three forwards and two defensemen. This is something that Martin had done before.

Alec Belanger and Samuel Hatto brought Ottawa within one with two late third period goals but Nicholas Hawkins’ empty netter sealed the deal with five seconds left.

Elie Boulerice scored his 12th of the year, opening the scoring. He now extends his point streak to five games (4 G / 7 A). The Jr. Senators also move to 11-5 when scoring first.

Ottawa’s early 1-0 lead only lasted for about a eight minutes as the Braves were able to scored two goals 23 seconds apart late in the first, which changed the rest of the game.

Samuel Hatto also snapped his five game goalless streak, finishing the night with 1G / 1 A. Owen Cole extends his point streak to nine games.

Francis Boisvert’s seven game win streak also came to end and Darcy Walsh’s CCHL high 10 game point streak finished.

Ottawa’s next game is Thursday November 1st at the Tom Flood Arena when the Kanata Lasers host the Jr. Senators at 7:30.
