Jr. Senators welcome Jacob Winsor for 2022-2023 season

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are pleased to announce the signing of defenceman Jacob Winsor, who spent last season with The Hill Academy (Caledon, ON) of the CSHS u18 Prep League.

The 6’0, 194 lbs Newmarket, Ontario native tallied a goal and 22 assists in 53 games during the 2021-2022 campaign.

“I am an aggressive defensive defencemen,” said Winsor. “I use my body to my advantage and play physical. I use my defensive abilities to shut down opportunities for the other team and can activate offensively to create chances for our team as well. I play a game that not many defensemen play anymore and I put it on full display.”

A graduate of the York Simcoe Express Minor Hockey Association, Winsor took home an OMHA bronze medal during the 2018-2019 season. On top of joining the three-time defending CCHL champions, Winsor felt the Nation’s Capital was the perfect fit, heading into his 18-year-old season.

“OJS scouted me while I was playing a game in Ottawa for The Hill Academy,” added Winsor. “I was contacted by them and their record of development and success intrigued me. I also wanted to take school part-time while playing junior hockey and Ottawa was the perfect place due to the University of Ottawa being right around the corner from the team’s home rink.”

Although entering his first season of junior hockey, Winsor is looking to make a splash on the blueline, both on the team and in the league, as he tries to make it to the next level.

“My short-term goals with hockey are to continue my education and use hockey to help with it,” explained Winsor. “A long-term goal of mine is to pursue a career in health and fitness or hockey and teach young athletes.”
