Junior Sens blank Colts

The Ottawa Junior Senators weren’t at their best. Didn’t have to be, in a 5-0 win against the Cornwall Colts.

Goaltender Francis Boisvert was at his best, and that was good enough for the Sens to win comfortably at the Cornwall Civic Complex on Thursday night.

Boisvert stopped 33 Cornwall shots. Ottawa had 32 on Cornwall’s Liam Lascelle.

Owen Guy and Elie Boulerice scored first-period goals for the Sens, with Pierre-Luc Veillette putting Ottawa up 3-0 after two periods.

Goals by Bailey Brant and Chiwetin Blacksmith five seconds apart late in the third sealed the deal for the Junior Sens, who improved to 16-3-1-1 overall.

Cornwall fell back to the .500 mark, at 10-10-2-0.

Tougher than the loss perhaps, is the possible loss of the league’s leading goal scorer, Chris Theodore. Theodore had to be helped off the ice after taking a hit in the second period and did not return to the contest.

The Colts don’t play again until next Thursday, hosting the Rockland Nationals.
